The drugs can be extracted from a sample, while macromolecules >74kD are too large to effectively interact with the sorbent.

	C18-U Selectivity: primarily non-polar retention mechanism combined with secondary polar silanol interactions. Increased extraction efficiency and enhanced clean up of hydrophobic compounds that contain hydroxy or amine functional groups from water or biological fluids. Desalting a matrix. Separate large proteins from polar drugs or metabolites. The drugs can be extracted from a sample, while macromolecules >15kD are too large to effectively interact with the sorbent.

	CN Selectivity: unique, selectivity toward non-polar and polar compounds combined with secondary polar silanol interactions. Retaining non-polar compounds that are retained too strongly on Strata C18-E or C8. A normal phase sorbent used to extract polar compounds from non-polar solvents.


	EPH
	EPH Selectivity: specialized phase that retains analytes by various polar mechanisms. Fractionation of aliphatic and aromatic extractable hydrocarbons from environmental samples


	FLORISIL
	Florisil Selectivity: polar retention attributed to magnesium ion on the silica surface. Extraction of pesticides from environmental samples. Extraction of halogented compounds.


	NH₂
	NH₂ Selectivity: retention mechanism of polar analytes by either hydrogen bonding or weak anion exchange. Extraction of strong anions from aqueous samples. Extraction of polar compounds similar in structure. Extracting polar compounds that may be retained too strongly on Strata Si-1 such as hydroxyl groups.


	PHENYL
	Phenyl Selectivity: unique, non-polar retention mechanism via pi-pi and hydrophobic interactions. Extracting aromatic hydrophobic compounds.


	SAX
	SAX Selectivity: unique selectivity of a quaternary amine (always charged), which allows for retention of analytes from biological and aqueous matrices. Extraction of organic acids. Extraction of biomolecules.


	SCREEN-A
	Screen-A Selectivity: incorporates the selectivity of a C8 plus a strong anion exchanger to give mixed-mode retention for target analytes. Extraction of acidic drugs from biological matrices such as blood, serum and urine.


	SCREEN-C
	Screen-C Selectivity: incorporates the selectivity of a C8 plus a strong cation exchanger to give mixed-mode retention for target analytes. Extraction of basic drugs from biological matrices such as blood, serum and urine. Available in gravity flow format, 200 �m particle size (Screen-C GF), for viscous samples such as horse urine and plasma.


	SCX
	SCX Selectivity: surface bonded benzene sulfonic acid group for the retention of organic bases from biological and aqueous sample matrices. Extraction of 1�, 2� and 3� amines from biological fluids. pi-pi selectivity of benzene ring allows for some hydrophobic retention of analytes.


	SDB-L
	SDB-L Selectivity: combines non-polar retention mechanism via pi-pi and hydrophobic interactions completely free from secondary silanol interactions. Extraction of non-polar and polar molecules. Large volume environmental samples. Extracting large proteins (up to 90kD), which can effectively interact with the large pores of the sorbent, making it useful in applications such as desalting a sample.

	Silica Selectivity: unbonded surface results in hydrogen bonding, which gives strong retention mechanism for polar compounds. Extraction of polar compounds that are similar in structure.
